Union HRD minister promises medical college for Kasargod

Kasargod, Jan 6, 2013: Union Minister for Human Resource Development Pallam Raju has promised a medical college for Kasargod.

Speaking after laying the foundation for a Central University at Pallam near here, the Minister said funds for a medical college would be allocated in the 12th Five year plan. He said the medical college would be a boon to Kasargod district as people of the district at present depended on Mangalore for medical education.

He said all measures would be taken to ensure quality of education in institutions. He also stated that more universities would be set up in order to prevent students from going abroad.

Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala, who presided over the function said more land will be allotted for central university by the government.

The master plan of the University was released by Shashi Tharoor, Union Minister of State for HRD. Vice Chancellor Dr Jancy James, Registrar  Dr Abdur Rasheed, E Ahamed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs,  MP P Karunakaran, Dr V L Chopra, Chancellor of Central University, P Abdurab, Kerala Education Minister and several others were present.
