Uncle – Nephew duo dies drowning at Tannirbhavi Beach

Mangalore, December 31, 2011 : Uncle – Nephew duo died drowning at Tannirbhavi Beach at 4:00 p.m. while playing in the waves.

The deceased are Haren D’Souza (15) and his uncle William D’Souza (58).

The two had arrived at the beach with a group of friends and relatives to have some fun. Eyewitnesses say that William was washed away when he was trying to rescue his nephew.

There were no expert swimmers or life guards in the area. Someone called the fire fighting personnel, but it was too late when they arrived and they could retrieve only the dead bodies.

The bodies have been taken to AJ Hospital for post mortem, and the Panambur Police have registered a case.
