Mangalore, January 3: Mangalore MLA U. T. Khader said that the project of constructing an underground drainage worth Rs. 61.71 crore will be soon implemented and that District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar will perform the bhoomi pooja for the same later this week.
Revealing details of the new project, MLA U. T. Khader said that the state government had released the funds for the project 3 months back. The scheme has been prepared keeping in mind the population of Ullal town after 30 years, estimated to be 2,04,237 people in 2041, he added.
Ullal Town Municipal Council has been divided into 12 zones and work has been allotted for the construction of manholes and sewer lines worth Rs. 18.93 crore, said Mr. Khader, adding that modern technology will be used for the first time in Karnataka for work of this nature. The project involves the construction of 2,562 manholes and a total of 77.94kms sewer lines, he informed. The work in the first zone will be completed before the next monsoons set in, he assured.
In response to a query regarding Togadia’s controversial speech, during which he severely criticized senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Governor H. R. Bharadwaj, Mr. Khader said that the VHP leader does not have the basic qualifications to speak about Congress leaders. He also said that he will bring the matter of Togadia’s speech to the attention of senior Congress leaders.
