Sullia, Jan 31, 2012 : Charan, an inspector in the Puttur Regional Transport Office (RTO), and Shridhar Padla, his friend, reportedly flew from Panja to Mangalore on the morning of Jan 29 Sunday in a helicopter meant for the chief minister of Karnataka.
When some people claimed that the duo was not authorized to do so, the issue became controversial.
D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the chief minister of Karnataka, was scheduled to arrive at Panja for the local temple’s Brahmakalashabisheka on the evening of Saturday. The junior college play ground had been converted into a helipad for the purpose. However, the CM could not take the helicopter to Panja because of visibility problems. He, therefore, arrived by car and returned the same night to Mangalore.
The above-mentioned duo, however, took the helicopter to Panja, refilled the fuel tank, and remained throughout the night at Panja. On the morning of Sunday, the helicopter was flown to Mangalore. However, claims are being made that they were not authorized to fly a helicopter meant for DVS’s use.
