Uppinangady, Oct 18, 2023: Following a police complaint with regard to the theft of the gold jewellery offered to the presiding deity of the Sri Vishnumurthi Temple at Kalenja-Denthadka of Perne during the Brahmakalashotsava held last December, the former president of the Temple Management Rohitashwa Banabettu has surrendered before the police along with the stolen jewellery.

The gold chain weighing over three sovereigns was offered to the God by a devotee last December. Along with this the temple also had another gold chain weighing two sovereigns offered by another devotee. However when the same were checked last Sunday, the ornaments were missing following which a police complaint was lodged.

As soon as the police began investigation Rohitashwa who was then the Management Board President and had misused his position to lay hands on the ornaments and then pledged them at a private finance company, got the ornaments released and surrendered before the police with the chain weighing over three sovereigns.

Meanwhile, the other chain belonging to the Lord is still missing.
