State’s banking sector occupies number one position - Dr V S Acharya

Mangalore, Oct 2: State Minister for Higher Education, Planning, and Statistics Dr. V. S. Acharya said that the banking sector has received the full support of the state in the past year. He had just inaugurated the 16th All India Conference of the National Organization of Bank Workers (NOBW) held at Sangha Niketan in Mannagudda on Oct 2, Saturday.

In his inaugural speech, he spoke of the importance of financial management and circulation and stated that Indian banking rests on a strong foundation and has withstood the onslaught of inflation and recession in the past. Speaking about the strong banking sector in Karnataka, the minister said that the state occupies the first place with regard to financial management in the country. The state’s tax rate is also in the number one position with 11 percent while Andhra Pradesh occupies the second position with 9.6 percent, he informed.

Delivering the benedictory speech, Pejawar Mutt Seer Shri Vishwesha Teerth Swamiji said that serving the country is like serving God and that serving God through one’s professional is the most superior form of service.

Around 600 delegates from banks all over India participated in the conference, over which Mr. Dinesh Kulkarni presided. Ashwani Rana delivered the introductory speech.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the august presence of Mayor Rajani Dugganna; K. Lakshman Reddy, the secretary of the Bharathiya Mazdoor Sangh; MP Nalin Kumar Kateel; District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar; P. T. Rao, the in-charge of the financial sector of BMS; and Dr. S. U. Deshpande, the general secretary of NOBW.
