Mangalore, June 25: St. Agnes College inaugurated its Human Rights Education Cell for 2011 – 12 at Avila Hall on June 25 Saturday.
The chief guest of the event Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh inaugurated the cell by lighting the lamp.
Dr. Sr. Prem D’Souza, the principal of St. Agnes College, presided over the event. In her presidential address, she said that the coordinator of the cell had submitted two proposals to the University Grants Commission to conduct the national seminar and to start a human rights certificate course in the college. The UGC has accepted the proposal and has released the required funds, owing to which the national seminar and the certificate course will be conducted during this academic year.
An interaction session between the students and the Mangalore Police Commissioner was later held.
Staff Coordinator Chandramohan, Coordinator Sr. Viola, and Secretary Vinutha B. were also present.
