Beltangady, Jan 7,2013 : Three Golden Kalashas were offered to the Vittal Sri Panchalingeshwara Temple on behalf of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala on January 6, Sunday. The function was held at Amrithavarshini hall at Dharmasthala.
The Kalashas were handed over by D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala to Mohandas Swamiji of Manila, Krishnayya Ballal, Trustee of Panchalingeshwara Temple and LN Kudoor. Each Kalasha was made with one kg gold and the total cost was Rs 1.2 crore. The kalashas sculpted with copper and mercury have a gold coating.
Speaking on the occasion, Heggade said the golden kalashas have been gifted to the Vittal Panchalingeshwara Temple in the backdrop of the innate bonding between the two shrines since times immemorial. He also recalled that Manjayya Heggade, the past Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala hailed from Vittal.
On this occasion, Dr Heggade also informed that nearly 160 temples in the state have been renovated by the Dharmasthala Dharmothana Trust.
Over three thousand people from Vittal had arrived in Dharmasthala to receive the Kalashas which were later brought to Vittal in a grand procession.
