Mangaluru, Nov 1, 2025: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta on Friday, October 31, said Sardar@150 Unity Walk will be organised in Mangaluru on November 10 and in Puttur on November 12 in line with Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports initiative to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary in a meaningful way.

Speaking to reporters here, Capt. Chowta said the walk aims to promote unity, nationalism, and civic responsibility as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The “unity walk” will begin from Ambedkar (Jyothi) Circle at 9.30 a.m. on November 10 to Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall. Similarly, at Puttur, the walk will start from Vivekananda Circle at 9.30 am to Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple. He urged youth, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, cultural troupes, and general public to participate in the walk in large numbers to join hands for nation development.

Ahead of the “unity walk”, awareness programmes would be conducted in educational institutions besides conducting various competitions on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for students. Awareness campaigns would also be undertaken through social media. As many as 150 winners of competitions could participate in the national-level walk.

Drugs-free India

During the “unity walk”, participants would also take pledge for drugs-free India and Garv Se Swadeshi. Capt. Chowta urged general public and shop keepers to shower flower petals on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s portrait.
