Udupi, Nov 1 , 2013 : State Minister for Urban Development and Udupi District in-charge Minister Vinaykumar Sorake has said that an additional grant of Rs 85 crores has been sanctioned to Udupi district under Karnataka Integrated Water Resource Management Scheme.

Addressing a progress review meeting on urban development at the Udupi CMC office on October 31, Thursday, he said all urban development programmes should be farsighted and stressed the need for effective utilization of the sanctioned funds.
Continuing, the minister said the projects are formulated with a vision till 2040 and sought the co-operation in the satisfactory implementation of the same.
The minister expressed his displeasure over the progress in the implementation of housing schemes, and stressed that a 100 per cent progress need to be registered.
The Minister asked the CMC authorities to take steps towards a cleaner and beautiful Udupi and sought information from the Environmental Engineer on the solid waste management system.
He said he would shortly be convening a meeting of SC ST representatives to discuss the programmes chalked out for their benefit.
Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj who was present at the meeting, sought a government grant of Rs 11 crores for Udupi Paryaya. The Minister assured to take up the issue with the Chief Minister.
Udupi CMC President Yuvaraj, Vice President Amritha Krishnamurthi, Deputy Commissioner Dr MT Reju, Commissioner Srikanth and others were present.
