Mangalore, Jan 2, 2012: C. M. Udasi, the public works department minister, conducted an inspection of the district court building, taluk building, and a building near circuit house, which are under construction, on Jan 2 Monday.

After inspecting the buildings, he told reporters that the court building will be completed by Dec 2012 and that Rs. 25 crore is being spent on it. He also apologized for the delay in the construction work and said that construction has been moving on quicly during the last 3 years. He said that the building near Circuit House will be completed by April 2012.

Stating that Rs. 4.74 crore has been earmarked for the repair of district roads and state highways, he said that around 48 percent of the district roads and 95 percent of the state highways have already been repaired. He also informed reporters that Rs. 120 crore will be spent on renovating Shri Kukke Subrahmanya Temple.

Stating that the mini Vidhana Soudha in Puttur, Mangalore, and Sullia will be soon completed, he said that Rs. 32 crore is being spent on the construction of new courts in Moodubidri, Bantwal, and Mangalore.

Further, he said that Rs. 72 crore has been earmarked for 69 projects in the region, which include the construction of 160km of new road. He said that Rs. 59 crore has been released under the state highway development project for the construction of 166kms of state highway. Concrete roads will also be constructed in SC/ST residential areas, he stated.

A Rs. 13.65 crore worth NABARD project, including 15 projects, will also be launched in DK, he assured.

Commenting on the pathetic condition of the Shiradi Ghat stretch, he blamed the union government for not releasing the required funds. He said that Rs. 6 crore will be provided by the state government to repair the road within the next fortnight.
