Prostitution racket busted; woman arrested; 5 minors rescued from house at Kulai

Mangalore, April 17, 2013 : One woman was arrested and five children were rescued from a house at Kulai in a raid by the CoD police of Bangalore on April 16, Tuesday. Police suspect that a prostitution racket was operative from the house and minors were trafficked and pushed into flesh trade.




According to sources, all the rescued children were below the age of 14 and orphans. The police got a tip off regarding the activities at the house after a voluntary organization called ‘Odanadi’ spotted a girl who was wandering in Bangalore.
The girl revealed that she was pushed into flesh trade by a woman named Tara at Kulai. Following this, the Odanadi centre had complained to the CoD which raided the house on Tuesday.
Sources said that the children rescued from the house revealed that the woman who operated the racket acted in connivance with two personnel of Suratkal police station.
The accused woman named Tara hailed from Malavalli and was staying in a rented house at Kulai since a year.
Suratkal police have registered a case.
