Pandeshwar Fire Station to become number one in state: Jija M. Harisingh

Mangalore, Oct 4: Jija M. Harisingh, the DGP in-charge of the fire brigades in Bangalore, promised that the Pandeshwar Fire Station, which was launched in 1942, will be developed into one of the most well-equipped and up-to-date fire service stations in Karnataka within one year. She was addressing the reporters on the occasion of her visit to the Kadri Fire Sation and later to the Pandeshwar Fire Station. 

The fire brigade staff gave her a guard of honour just before she inspected the work of the fire service staff and the equipment available to them. She promised that she will recruit well-trained fire officers and provide modern equipment to the fire service stations. A chief fire officer and a regional fire officer will soon be recruited. 

Fortunately, there are hardly any major fires in the coastal regions at present. The last tragedy was when the Malpe boats caught fire several years back. The only problems facing the citizens of DK at present are the road-widening projects, which prevent fire engines from reaching sites of fires on time. Ms. Harisingh said that the foundation-stone laying ceremony was pending all these days owing to this problem and that, once the roads are widened, the ambulances, city safety guards, and fire engines can reach those in distress quickly.
