Padubidri, Sep 6, 2025: Police have arrested two accused who had earlier attempted to kill policemen while being intercepted in connection with a cattle theft case.

The arrested are Mohammed Azeem of Kaup and Mohammed Razik of Bajpe. On August 5, in the early hours near Hejamadi toll gate, Gangolli police PSI and his team stopped a car heading towards Mangaluru from Udupi. During inspection, they found five to six cattle tied and being transported in a cruel manner.

At that time, the driver allegedly abused the police and tried to mow them down with the car. The police managed to apprehend one person in the vehicle, identified as Sharoz from Surathkal, while the others escaped after injuring the officers.

Following a complaint filed by the Gangolli PSI, a case was registered at the Padubidri police station. The absconding accused have now been arrested, produced before court, and remanded to judicial custody.
