Mangalore, Dec 7, 2013: Karnataka Bank Managing Director and CEO P Jayaram Bhat has said that the “Banks are facing a tough time now owing to the economy crisis. The Non Performing Assets (NPA) are mounting and it has been an uphill task to arrest the surging NPAs”
He was speaking after receiving the Outstanding Manager Award instituted by Mangalore Management Association (MMA) at a felicitation programme held at SDM College of Business Management here on Thursday.
Karnataka Bank had set a target of achieving Rs. One Lakh crore business by 2015, currently the bank’s turnover is 64,000 crores. The number of ATMs will rise up to 700 in next year. The number of branches will soar up to 600 from the existing 559 across the country, he said.
Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, Canara Workshops Chairman & MD Srinivas Kudva, Srinivas Group of Institutions President A Raghavendra Rao were the chief guests.
MMA President M R Vasudeva, SDM PG Centre Director Dr. Devraj K among others also spoke on the occasion.
MMA Vice President J H G Anchan welcomed the gathering and secretary R Lohidas proposed vote of thanks. D Prakash of SDM Post graduation Study Center compered the programme.
