Holiday has been declared for all schools and colleges, and private buses, KSRTC buses, and auto rickshaws are not plying today. However, a source in the KSRTC said that KSRTC buses plied for some time this morning. People could be seen walking from one point to the other in search of transport, and those who arrived by train are stranded in the railway station.

The police have beefed up security in the city to maintain peace and law and order.

Commercial establishments, shops, and offices have not pulled up their shutters, but milk and ambulance services are available.

In short, Mangalore looks deserted today.

The opposition parties will hold a protest meeting in front of the DC’s office at 10:00 a.m.
