Marxist association honors freedom fighter Kakkilaya

Mangalore, Oct 2: The Indian Institute of Marxist Theory and Practice Association conferred the Karl Marx Award 2010 on the renowned freedom fighter B. V. Kakkilaya at his house on Simon Road on Oct 2, Saturday. They honoured him with a peta, a shawl, a citation, a memento, and Rs. 10,000.

 

 

 

 

 

After receiving the award, Mr. Kakkilaya said that this was the most important event in his life. He also said that he has devoted 74 of the 94 years of his life to Marxism and has worked for the welfare of the people, in the course of which he had even gone to jail. Speaking in praise of Marxism, he said that it is all about transforming people’s lives for the better. He also said that Marxism and Communism helped him lead a fruitful and useful life.

Stating that the struggle for freedom has still not ended, he said that it will not end in the future too. Speaking about Mahatma Gandhi, he said that Gandhi was a “great dictator for the Indian freedom struggle. Claiming that the country has not met the expectations of the freedom fighters, he said that Marxism is the only solution for harassment at the workplace.

Voicing his opinion that the recent high court verdict on the Ayodhya issue is wrong, he said that justice delayed is justice denied. Stating that a mosque does not become a Ram Mandir just because it contains an idol of Ram, he said that now that the verdict has been given, one must maintain peace.

He later released two books—“Marx Vaadha” and “Lenin Gandhi”—authored by Dr. K. S. Sharma.
