Mangaluru, Jul 9, 2025: In light of a series of disturbing incidents in Dakshina Kannada in recent years, a high-level peace meeting was held in Mangaluru on Tuesday, led by Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara.

The meeting brought together key figures including District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader, MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, senior officials, MLAs, elected representatives, and leaders from various community organizations.

Initiating the meeting, Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said the primary goal was to prevent the recurrence of violence and foster long-term communal harmony. “Too many innocent lives have been lost and many families have suffered. No political ideology should ever justify hate or violence,” he said.

He stressed the need for dialogue and legal means to resolve disputes, urging people to avoid inflammatory speech and actions. “Religion should be a healing force, not one that causes pain. Let us come together to promote peace,” he appealed.

Highlighting the role of law enforcement, Gundu Rao called for inclusive policing and equal treatment of all citizens. He clarified that the meeting was not politically motivated but aimed at mutual understanding and preventing further unrest. “We must become part of the solution, not the problem. Every family, community, and institution has a role in building social harmony,” he said.

Speaker U.T. Khader echoed similar sentiments, urging all stakeholders to work together for unity and peaceful coexistence in the region.
