Mangaluru, January 9, 2026: The newly constructed office of the Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) for the Mangaluru division was inaugurated on Friday by Karnataka Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology Eshwar Khandre.
Mangaluru South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath, Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader, Legislative Council member Ivan D’Souza, former MLA Moideen Bava, along with several political leaders, elected representatives, senior forest department officials, staff members and members of the public, were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Eshwar Khandre emphasised the state government’s commitment to protecting forest resources, conserving biodiversity and strengthening the role of the forest department in sustainable development.
He said the new office would enhance administrative efficiency and improve coordination in implementing conservation initiatives.
Other dignitaries highlighted the need for collective efforts by the government, public representatives and citizens to conserve forests, especially in ecologically sensitive regions such as coastal Karnataka. The new office is expected to provide better facilities for officials and enable more effective implementation of forest protection and environmental programmes.
Senior forest department officials, staff members and invitees participated in the programme.
