Mangalore girls bring laurels at Intl skating event

Mangalore, April 15, 2013 : Seeliya Simmith and Avani S Kumar have made Mangalore proud by bagging medals in an international skating event for “World Development Trophy-2013” held at Singapore.
Seeliya Simmith bagged the silver medal while Avani secured a bronze. The duo are Seeliya Simmith, silver medalist, and Avani S Kumar, bronze medalist. A total of five contestants had represented India in the event. Both Seeliya and Avani are members of Mangalore Roller Skating Club and are being coached by Mahesh Kumar.
Seeliya Simmith, daughter of P A Mohammed and Asma Mohammed of Pandeshwar, is a tenth standard student at Lourdes Central School, Bejai. She has also undergone special training in ice skating in Shimla and Leh Ladakh, Kashmir.
Avani S Kumar, daughter of Suresh Kumar and Sundari, hails from Kadri Vyasa Nagar and is pursuing her 7th standard from St Theresa School. She has also undergone training in the ice skating camp at Shimla last December.
