Mangalore,Jan1, 2013 : Vittal Malekudiya who was arrested last March on charges of Naxal links and subsequently released on bail  in July, has been permitted by the Mangalore University to re-attend second semester classes from this academic year. Soon after his arrest last year, the University which had refused permission for Vittal to appear for exams, had later granted permission following a court  order.Though Vittal wrote the exams, he was not granted his results and mark sheet, citing shortage of attendance.

Now, the University has permitted him to resume studies in the same class and he will continue as a second semester student.

Mangalore University Registrar PS Yedapadittaya has  meanwhile said that though there may not be chances of Vittal facing short of attendance this time, still the University would seek legal opinion in this regard as Vittal was currently on conditional bail.
