Mangalore : Students take out silent march to oppose crime against women

Mangalore, Jan 4, 2013: Students of Mount Carmel school, Maryhill, Infant Jesus Higher Primary School and Vijaymari Technical Institute, along with their teachers and parents took out a silent march upto Padavinangady, Bondel on January 4, Friday, to condemn the recent brutal gang rape of a Delhi student.

The students were holding placards with slogans on the need to end crime against women. A street play on  women’s issues presented at Bondel by  students of Infant Jesus Higher Primary School, was well appreciated by the public.


Earlier, a one-minute silence was observed in memory of the Delhi braveheart followed by a short prayer service conducted by the students of Mount Carmel. Vidya Dinker, social activist, who addressed the students emphasized the need to put an end to sexual assaults against women and added protests will help in sensitizing the society on the issue. She also urged the public to raise voice against such atrocities.
