Mangalore, Dec. 15, 2012: The mortal remains of Papal Envoy to Ivory Coast and Indian Archbishop Rev. Ambrose Madtha was brought to Mangalore on December 15, Saturday by a special flight from Ivory Coast. The flight landed in Mangalore International Airport almost 24 hours behind schedule as it had to be grounded in Ethiopia on Friday following a technical snag.

Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nunica to India, Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore and other parish priests and religious heads were present at the airport. They paid their tributes to the departed Archbishop whose mortal remains were placed in an ambulance. The ambulance then directly proceeded to Belthangady, the home town of the late Archbishop where the funeral will take place on December 16, Sunday.
Though earlier, it had been decided to place the mortal remains at the Rosario Cathedral for the public to pay their homage, the programme was cancelled as the flight arrived late.
