Mangalore, April 8, 2013 : The 20th anniversary of ‘Amcho Sandesh’ a Konkani monthly bulletin of Catholic Sabha was celebrated here on April 7, Sunday. Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Bishop emphasized the need for the people to develop good reading habits.
‘Kusall Dukasar Haso’, a book comprising more than 428 comics by George Ligoury D’Souza, and ‘Zaglale’, a book featuring 27 thought-provoking articles written by Valli Bola, were released by Konkani writer Dr Edward Nazareth.
Gabriel Vaz, senior journalist, Ronald Fernandes, Mangalore Bureau Chief of Deccan Herald and Hemacharya, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld Weekly, spoke about journalism and its importance in the present society. Former editors, publishers, senior writers, and contributors of ‘Amcho Sandesh’ were felicitated on the occasion.
President of Catholic Sabha Nigel Periera, Convener Goerge Ligoury D’Souza, Secretary Flavy D’Souza and others were present.
