Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Dec 31, 2011 : Vozram Motiam, said to be the “richest Konkani album” to be ever released by Mandd Sobhann, was released at Chefs in Kadri in the presence of a huge gathering of well wishers and music lovers. The same album is being released at 70 places all over the world and Mandd Sobhann is selling 1472 CDs at each venue, thus breaking the record of the largest number of Konkani albums sold in one day at the release venue.

The album comprises 12 Konkani songs, the lyrics for which were written by renowned Konkani poets and the music for which was composed by Eric Ozerio. The CD was released by Ronald Mendonca, the chairman of Kalaangan, Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozerio, and President Stany Alvares.

In his address, delivered just before the release, Eric Ozerio said that Mandd Sobhann has set a record by releasing the album in 70 venues simultaneously not just to create a record, but to market the album. Voicing his opinion that Konkani albums are not sold owing to lack of marketing, he said that Mandd Sobhann is attempting to build a marketing network, which will prove to be beneficial to other producers of Konkani albums too. He also expressed his gratitude to well-wishers such as Ronald Colaco who had contributed almost two-fifths of the total cost of producing the album.

All those who had contributed to the creation of this album were felicitated on this occasion. Mr. Ozerio specially thanked Cajethan Dias who had spent nearly two and a half years in putting together a team of singers for the album. President Stany Alvares presented a bouquet to Cajethan Dais on this occasion.

Darrel Mascarenhas, Prakash D’Souza, Joel Rebello, Melwyn Rodrigues, Lavita Lobo, Yashwanth D. S., Loy Saldanha, Justline, Royston, and others were also honored on this occasion.

Rohan Monteiro of Property Real Estate unveiled a painting by Wilson Kayyar, which was inspired by Cha. Fra. D’Costa’s poem “Kanto.”
