Mangaluru, Dec 23, 2021: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V has urged people to maintain self-restraint furing the upcoming festivals and other religious programmes and ensure all Covid protocols are adhered to. He said exercising caution is essential  due to the Omicron threat, despite reduced positivity rate in the district, Speaking to reporters here on December 23,  Thursday,  he said the positivity rate is 0.26% in the district and that  only 35 Covid patients are in hospital and that there are 164 active cases.

He also asked people to adhere to all Covid protocols while participating in  functions. He said all those tested positive for Omicron in the district are fine and that they will be released from isolation after an RT-PCR test after ten days.

Students who leave for Kerala for Christmas and New Year should get an RT-PCR negative report mandatorily while returning to their educational institutions, the DC said.

The DC informed that  as many as 1.15 lakh people in the district are yet to receive their first dose of Covid vaccine and efforts are underway to convince them.
