Mangaluru, June 26, 2025: Heavy rains in the Shiradi Ghat area has led to landslide near Maranahalli in Sakleshpur taluk at around midnight on June 25, Wednesday leading to a serpentine queue of vehicles on either side of the road.
The landslide brought vehicular movement to an abrupt halt forcing many people travelling in buses to remain stranded in the ghat section all through the night.
Huge mounds of soil along with trees have landed on the road which is a vital link on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway.
In view of the situation, Hassan Deputy Commissioner Latha Kumari has issued an order making alternate arrangements for movement of vehicles.
As per the orders, vehicles heading towards Mangaluru from Bengaluru have to pass through Belur, Charmadi Ghat to reach Mangaluru, while vehicles going towards Bengaluru have to pass through Charmadi Ghat, Belur, Hassan route.
