Kasargod : Businessman brutally murdered for gain by gang of masked men

Kasargod, Aug 6, 2013 : In a shocking incident reported from Trikkaripura in Kasargod on the night of August 4, Sunday, a  Dubai based businessman was brutally murdered by a gang of masked thieves after  threatening and locking up other members of the house.

The thieves also decamped with cash and gold from the house.

The deceased businessman is AB Abdul Salam (58) owner of Novelty Group in Dubai.  Even Salam’s son Soofi was injured. The  incident  occurred at around midnight.

Eyewitnesses said some people who arrived by a white coloured car had pressed the calling bell  when   Salam’s younger daughter Safan opened the door. First the group attacked Salam’s son Soofi and locked him up in the bathroom. Later Salam was hit on his head and threatened. Later, he was tied down and  strangulated to death. Even his wife was tied down and the assailants robbed cash, gold, mobile phone and the car and bike keys in the house. It is learnt they were speaking Hindi and Malayalam.

Though there were CCT cameras in the house and also at the gate, there was no facility to record the footages and the CCTV at the gate was also not functioning since a week.

There is a suspicion that the assailants targeted the house of  Salam  believing he had kept large amount of cash in his home to be  offered as donation  on August 5 being the 27th day of Ramzan.  The thieves also robbed jewellery on the person of Salam’s wife Zubaida.

Senior police officials  are investigating the case.
