Karnataka, the most preferred educational destination - Acharya

Dr V S AcharyaMangalore, October 3: Higher Education Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya told reporters after inaugurating the 16th Annual All India Conference of the National Organization of Bank Workers (NOBW), which was held at Sangha Niketan on Oct 2, Saturday that Karnataka is the most preferred educational destination for students all over the country.

He said that the Karnataka Examination Authority of the Government of Karnataka has concluded medical and engineering admission processes for 2010-11. Revealing further details, he said that September 30 was the last day of admission to professional courses for 2010-11.

A total of 48,045 medical and engineering seats including MBBS, BE, BUMS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, and nursing were available in 297 colleges all over Karnataka, out of which 1822 medical seats have already been taken, he informed. Out of the total of 41,091 engineering seats, 38,105 seats have already been taken, which means that 6,652 seats have no takers, he added.

Stating that government institutions have excellent infrastructure, faculty, and equipment, Dr. Acharya said that students prefer private and government colleges equally.
