Karnataka spends highest on Edn. sector : Capt. Karnik

Mangalore, Jan4,2013 : The education imparted to our students should be able to awaken and enlighten their inner conscience, said Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC.

He was speaking after inaugurating a National seminar on ‘Effects of Privatisation on Management Education in the country” held at SDM College of Business Management here on January 4, Friday.

“Whether the institution is private or government is immaterial, it is the quality of education imparted to students which really matters,” said Karnik. Continuing, he said Karnataka spends the highest on the education sector in the whole of the nation.

Though the government has allocated Rs 15.071 crores towards education only 12.4 per cent of the students get opportunity to attain higher education, he said and hoped the percentage would increase in the near future.

TG Shenoy, President of Mangalore Management Association, Prof Mallikarjunappa of Mangalore University, K Devaraj, Principal of SDM College of Business Management and others were present.
