Mangaluru, Nov 001, 2021: Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated at the Nehru Maidan on November 1, Monday. DK District in-charge Minister S Angara hoisted the national tri-colour and inspected the guard of honour.
Kannada patriotic songs and state anthem were rendered by school children.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Angara said mid-day meals for school children will resume from November 2. He hailed the selfless service rendered by the health workers during the Covid second wave in the district and added that 12 oxygen plants are functioning in the district in order to tackle a possible third wave. He said all taluk hospitals have been equipped with five ICU ventilator beds each. 89% of the eligible population in the district have received first dose and 53% have received second dose, the minister said.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Bharath Shetty, Mayor Premananda Shetty and others were present.
