Kannada Rajyotsava celebrated with gaiety in Mangalore

Mangalore, Nov 1, 2013: District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai hoisted the national flag at the programme held to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava at Nehru Maidan on Nov 1, Friday.


Delivering the Rajyotsava speech, he said that even though Kannada is the administrative language of the state, the languages like Tulu, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu including Kodava and Lambani are common spoken language in the state. State is contributing to the development of all the languages.

 

 

He also briefed various developmental projects implemented by the state government for the development of the Dakshina Kannada district

Minister also conferred 20 personalities with Rajyotsava Awrd including Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty, B L Nagaraj and ‘Shanthi Prakashana’ (publishing house)for Literature; Harry D’Souza of Harry’s ‘Silver Band’ for Music, Suresh Attavar for Fine Arts, Leelavathi Baipadithaya for Yakshagana, Dayanand Kattalsar and Annu Paravan for Folklore, Dr D C Chowta for Agriculture, Dinesh Attavar for Theatre, P B Harish Rai and Harish for Media, Elias Sanctis for Social service, Aravind Bolar for Cinema, Vijaya Vittalanath Shetty for Art Patronage, Prakash Devadiga for Classical music, Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala (Ullal) for Organization, Dr Annayya Kulal for Kannada-favouring service, Madhava Ullal for  Environment and Umesh Rao Yekkur for Education.

 

 

Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, IGP Pratap Reddy, Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, MLA’s J R Lobo and Moideen Bava, MCC Commissioner Ajit Kumar Shanadi, Dakshina Kannada District President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.


A colourful parade was organized on the occasion followed with the cultural event. Prior to the event, procession of Kannada Bhuvaneshwari was held from Jyothi Circle to Nehru Maidan.
