Kadaba, May 27, 2025: A massive mango tree fell on a parked Maruti 800 near Atur in Ramakunja village, along the Kadaba–Uppinangady state highway, on Monday evening, completely wrecking the vehicle.
The car belonged to local resident Abdul Saleem, who had parked it by the roadside while he went to a nearby shop. At the time, his friends—Abdul Rahiman, Ramlan, and Abtas—were sitting inside. Sensing danger as the mango tree began swaying violently, they managed to escape just moments before it came crashing down. The uprooted tree temporarily blocked traffic on the highway.
Local youths acted swiftly, cutting the tree into pieces to clear the road. An excavator was later brought in to remove the section of the tree that had crushed the car. The incident also resulted in damage to nearby power lines.
Elsewhere along the highway, near Nekkare in Alankaru village, another tree fell, disrupting traffic. In Kundaje, also in Ramakunja village, a tree collapsed onto a house, partially damaging the structure.
Authorities are also monitoring the Maleshwara–Porantu connecting road in Kodimbala village, where a potential landslide may lead to a road closure. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Kadaba town panchayat.
