Mangalore, Jan 5, 2013: India’s Kabaddi sensation Mamatha Poojari hailing from Hermunde in Karkala, is all set to enter into wedlock. Mamatha who brought India its first Kabaddi World Cup as the captain of the Indian team, will be tying the knot to Bangalore based software engineer Abhishek Kotian at Kidiyoor Hotel hall in Udupi on January 23.
Family sources said it is an arranged marriage, and the couple was engaged on October 9. Abhishek who hails from Udyavar is settled in Bangalore with his parents.
Mamatha who is busy in Kabaddi practice session at Delhi is expected to arrive in her hometown a week before her wedding.
Mamatha who also led the Indian Kabaddi team which won gold in the 16th Asian Games in China, has managed to excel in the game and bring laurels for her nation and her district through sheer determination and hard work despite poverty conditions at home.
Her brother Vishwanath Poojari says it is now upto Mamatha to decide whether to continue her Kabaddi career after wedding.
