Mangalore, Dec 18: The Karnataka Bank Officers’ Organization (KBOO), affiliated to AIBOA, organized the inaugural session of its 16th conference at PVS Kala Kunj on Dec 18, Saturday.
Delivering the inaugural address, Comrade R. J. Shridharan, the general secretary of AIBOA, said that the bank is judicial and does not want foreign bankers. Banks utilize public resources because they are nationalized, he said, adding that banks cannot deploy the public sector if they do not have any resources. Stating that the American economy cannot be compared to the Indian economy, he said that the two are entirely different.
Partnership between governments and banks will lead to several problems, he said, adding that everybody wants to make India corruption free, which is not possible because of political interference. He said that people can experience growth only when there is sincerity and job satisfaction. Expressing his appreciation of Karnataka Bank, he said that it is a role model for all banks in the industry.
P. Jayaram Bhat, the managing director and CEO of Karnataka Bank, was the chief guest of the event. He said that the Karnataka Bank Officers’ Organization now has 500 officers. Stating that banking is challenging, he said that headline inflation has come down annually and food line inflation has been moderate. Since bank officers deal with people’s money, they must know all aspects of banking, margin, and profit, he said.
The guests of honor were Comrade K. Vishwanath Naik, the general secretary of AIBOA (state committee), and Comrade P. R. Karanth, the general secretary of KBEA and the joint secretary of AIBEA. KBOO President Comrade K. Ravindran Aithal presided over the function.
