Mangalore, Sept. 21, 2012: Addressing the gathering at a uniform distribution program organized by Navodaya Gram Vikas Charitable Trust in Loyola Hall, St. Aloysius College on September 21, Friday, Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes lauded self-help groups and Indian women and said that they saw the country through inflation and economic crisis.

Further, the MP said that self-help groups have made rural women stronger and willing to take up initiatives. Since they are prompt in repaying bank loans, the government has decided to provide 50% reservation to empower women in all sections of society.

Delivering the presidential address, M. N. Rajendra Kumar, chairman of Navodaya Trust and president of SCDCC Bank, said that this is the happiest moment of his life because the trust is distributing clothes among members of his own family. He said that uniforms are being distributed to create a sense of unity and equality in the community.

Rajendra Kumar also felicitated Oscar Fernandes, Rohan Monteiro, and Nalin Kumar Kateel on this occasion.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Rohan Monteiro of Property Infra Tech and member of Navodaya Trust also spoke on the occasion.

Blossom Fernandes, Radha Krishna Shetty, S. M. Bhaskar, Sunil Kumar Bajjagoli, Sudarshan, and others were also present.
