Mangalore, May 9: Malabar Gold and Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) launched a brand new programme called Green Army as part of their Green Mangalore Campaign at Gandhi Park in Mannagudda on May 9, Monday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mayor Praveen Anchan inaugurated Green Army by distributing T-shirts sponsored by Malabar Gold to students.


Speaking on the occasion, MCC Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash said that Green Army is an initiative in which students will be selected from each college and NSS unit affiliated to the Mangalore University to actively participate in each awareness campaign programme launched by MCC.


The Green Army proposes to tackle solid waste management issues, conduct tree plantation drives, clean beaches, and aid the Green Mangalore Campaign, he added.
A number of corporators along with Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak were present on the occasion.
