Mangalore, March 10: Retired Justice Michael F. Saldanha met Governor H. R. Bharadwaj and presented his report on the church attacks of 2008. They discussed the following issues during their meeting.

saldhana Reportedly, CM B. S. Yeddyurappa, Higher Education Minister V. S. Acharya, and Law Minister Suresh Kumar receive daily instructions from the RSS. Mr. Kumar, in particular, was reported to have informed the governor that they are RSS sevaks first and ministers next. Concerns were raised that minorities and secular-minded citizens can have little hope in such a case and that Karnataka might soon become another Gujarat if action is not taken immediately.

The governor has urged the minorities to take up constitutional guarantees in court. He admitted that even this might be a problem since many judges are biased or corrupt.

Stating that the government is openly targeting wakf and church property, the governor said that he will take steps to prevent government takeover of minority properties. He also said that Home Minister Chidambaram has enough material to dismiss the government, but is held back by senior Congress leaders, who have apparently been either purchased or are sympathetic toward the Hindutva brigade.

The governor has urged all Christians to unite and support one another as Hindutva militant outfits are likely to exploit all denominational differences in opinion among them. He urged all Christians to remain alert. He said that a large section of the police department and the judiciary are saffronized and added that the BJP is unable to do anything about the mining lobby in the state.
