Kasargod: Two killed, three critically injured in car–lorry collision on NH

Kasargod, January 20, 2026: Two people were killed and three others suffered serious injuries after a BMW car collided with a Taurus lorry at Chattanchal Thekkil on the National Highway in Kasargod on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Asif Muhammad (41) of Sajip Bailuguttu in Dakshina Kannada district and Muhammad Shafeeq (23) of Natekal. All five occupants of the car are natives of Mangaluru.

Kasargod Accident

According to police, the accident occurred when the car rammed into the lorry, leaving the vehicle completely mangled. Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the scene and rescued those trapped inside the car.

The injured were shifted to a hospital in Kasargod, where two of them were declared dead. Reports said five persons were travelling in the car and were returning from a trip to Wayanad when the mishap occurred.
