Government College hosts singing competition in honor of D. R. Bendre

Mangalore, Jul 24: “All have scholars such as Kuvempu and D. R. Bendre within themselves, but they should realize it,” said President of DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishad Pradeep Kumar Kalkura after inaugurated the singing competition organized at the Government College on Car Street in honor of D. R. Bendre Anusandhana and Bendre Namana on July 24, Saturday.

 

 

 

Mr. Kalkura also urged students to develop ideal qualities with the help of their environment and their society. Admitting that English and computer education is important in modern life, he said that this should not make people forget and neglect their culture. He also spoke about the importance of respecting Kannada and urged people to identify themselves as Kannadigas while protecting their mother tongues.

Students of various schools sang the songs of D. R. Bendre on the occasion. P. P. Joseph, the principal of Government College, presided over the function. Dr. U. Maheshwari, professor of the Kannada department of the college, was one of the dignitaries on the dais.
