Puttur, Nov 2, 2025: A four-year-old girl was killed and her grandmother later succumbed to injuries after a car and an autorickshaw collided near Parpunj Abroad Hall at Innomogaru village on the Mani–Mysuru National Highway on Saturday evening.
The deceased child has been identified as Shazwa Fathima (4 years, 6 months), daughter of Hanif from Bannur. Her grandmother Zulaikha, a resident of Bolwar Kapikad in Puttur, who had sustained critical injuries and was admitted to KMC Hospital, Mangaluru, died during treatment later that night.

According to a complaint lodged by Hanif, the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. when he was travelling with his wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and three children in an autorickshaw (KA-21-C-3491) from Bolwar towards Puttur. A car (TN-72-BL-1759) coming from the opposite direction, allegedly driven rashly and on the wrong side by Lakshmibadiraju, a native of Tamil Nadu, crashed head-on into the autorickshaw. While Shazwa Fathima died on the spot, Zulaikha succumbed to her injuries hours later.
A case has been registered at the Puttur Rural Police Station, and further investigation is in progress.
