DC instructs MCC to start widening city roads

DC Mlore 20may12Mangalore, July 22, 2012: DC Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda has directed Dr. Harish Kumar, commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), to take the required steps to widen P. M. Rao Road and Sharavu Mahaganapathy Temple Road. He also said that the survey to widen the Naguri to Mangalore Junction Railway Station road has also been done. 


The DC inspected several roads in the city such as U. P. Mallya Road, Ganapathy High School Road, Hotel Vimalesh Junction, K. S. Rao Road, Sharavu Ganapathy Temple Road, and P. M. Rao Road. 


He directed MCC officers to start acquiring land for widening the road under transferable development rights and urged the public to cooperate with the officers. 


According to the DC’s directions, GHS Road will be widened to 50ft from its present 20 – 25ft, and Sharavu Mahaganapathy Temple Road will be widened to 40ft. Around 31 landowners will have to surrender their land for this purpose, and the work will begin next week. 


The DC said that the 50m stretch from Naguri to Mangalore Junction Railway Station will be widened to 60ft and the rest of the road will be widened by 40ft. Around 11 buildings and compound walls will be acquired for this purpose. 


A number of MCC officers and engineers were present.
