Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily announces Export Vision 2012

Mangalore, Feb 8, 2012: Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, the union minister for corporate affairs, said that the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (southern region) in collaboration with the Exporters’ Convention, Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and Mangalore Airport will organize Karnataka: Export Vision – 2012 at Dr. T. M. A. Pai Convention Centre on Feb 13 Monday. 


Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Ocean Pearl on Feb 8 Wednesday, Dr. Moily said that Mangalore holds immense opportunity for high trade and industry and is second only to Mumbai. Speaking about ports, he said that Mangalore has plenty of potential for export with its excellent highway connectivity and SEZ. 


Issues such as banking shipping, foreign trade policy, infrastructure, and others will be discussed at the conclave, he said, adding that the foreign trade policy envisages doubling of India’s share of global exports by 2020.

Further, he said that the decision to organize a conclave has been taken with the purpose of making Karnataka an export-friendly state. Stating that this event is the first of its kind in Karnataka, he said that its most important feature is that it is being organized in collaboration with the union ministry for corporate affairs. 


Walter D’Souza, the chairman of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations, said on the occasion that Dr. Moily will inaugurate the event and Murugesh Nirani, the minister for industry, will preside over it. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Anup K. Pujari, the DGFT, Government of India, and the chief guest will be Jyothiradithya Scindia, the minister for commerce and industry. The guests of honor will be Deputy Speaker N. Yogish Bhat, MLA K. Abhayachandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, IOB Chairman M. Narendra, and FIEO President Padmashree Rafeeque Ahmed. 


The valedictory ceremony will be held on the same day at 5:15 p.m. 


KCCI President G. Mohandas Nayak, Organizing Committee Coordinator Thejomaya, NMPT Chairman P. Tamil Vanan, M. R. Vasudev, UCCI President Prasad Raj Kanchan, and many others were present at the press conference.
