City advocates felicitate MLC Monappa Bhandary

Mangalore, Aug 4, 2012 : The Mangalore Bar Association felicitated Monappa Bhandary, former district president of BJP, on being elected as the member of the state legislative council (MLC), in the premises of the court on Aug 4, Saturday.

 

Chengappa, president of the association, delivered the welcome address, in which he also spoke of the problems faced by budding advocates who do not get adequate stipend. He urged MLC Monappa Bhandary to raise this issue in the legislative council so that new advocates can get adequate stipend. He also said that a minimum of one seat must be reserved for advocates in the legislative council.

Delivering the felicitation address, Monappa Bhandary said that he has taken a number of responsibilities in the past and has fought for the rights of advocates in getting justice. He said that he has always raised his voice against injustice and will continue to do so, adding that advocates should not mix politics with their profession. He also promised that he will bring up the stipend issue and will discuss it with the deputy commissioner. He also assured the lawyers that he will always be with them.
