Chief Minister must resign - Janardhan Poojary

Mangalore, Oct 3: B. Janardhan Poojary, the former president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa because of his alleged involvement in the recently unearthed land scam. He was addressing reporters at a press conference. 

Continuing his tirade against the BJP-led state government, he said that its term of governance has been fraught with scams so far, which clearly illustrates the fact that the CM has no power over his own cabinet members and cannot stop them from breaking administrative and ethical rules and making money. He alleged that the CM, along with his son B. Y. Raghavendra, is involved in the land scam. 

Referring to the recent arrest of Mr. Katta Subramanya Naidu’s son, Poojary said that the CM should sack Naidu not only from the government, but also from the party and should lodge a police complaint against his own son for cheating the government and the election commission. He accused Yeddyurappa of turning a blind eye toward everything that has been happening in the government. 

Listing out all the scams that were unearthed during the BJP regime, Poojary said that the government has seen two sex scandals in which Excise Minister Renukacharya and Mr. Halappa, the former minister, had been involved. This was followed by the medical college admission scam, the iron ore mining scam, and the Naidu land scam. Now, the CM himself is involved is another land scam, he added.
