The case originated from a complaint lodged by businessman Govinda Babu Poojary at the Bandepallya police station in Bengaluru. Poojary alleged that Chaitra and her associates had deceived him out of a substantial sum, totaling 5 crores, by falsely promising him a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket to contest in the Byndur Assembly Constituency. The charges against the accused include cheating and engaging in fraudulent activities related to the alleged receipt of money.

Sources with knowledge of the investigation have indicated that Chaitra and her team have provided a confessional statement to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) authorities. Furthermore, all statements, including Chaitra’s, have been recorded on video as part of the ongoing investigation. Chaitra reportedly provided detailed information on how she, along with Gagan, Halashree Swamiji, Srikanth, and others, had masterminded the entire fraudulent scheme and enlisted the assistance of additional individuals by offering them financial incentives.
