Bijai St Francis Xavier School, centenary celebrations today

Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2015: The historic St Francis Xavier Higher Primary School, in the Bejai church premisesis all set to mark it’s centenary celebrations here today, December 2.

Francis_ The celebrations will begin with a thanksgiving mass at 9 am, Rev Alwyn D’Cunha will be the main celebrant.

A fitting celebration will take place at 5.30 pm and will be presided over Bishop of Mangalore Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. Dr Nodu Subraya Bhat, MLA JR Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza,Mayor Jacintha Alfred and Rev Jerald D’Souza will take part as chief guests.

Former Correspondents Rev Godfrey Saldanha and Rev Victor Machado, retired headmistresses Lilly Pinto, Nelly Tauro, Catherine D’Souza, Vivian Lasrado, Lidwin D’Almeida, Concepta Noronha and Precilla Rodrigues will also be felicitated during the celebrations. The management along with past pupils of the school who are widely spread out in a phenomenal way consider this occasion as very special.

The Government must provide funds to improve these institutions. Now-a-days education has become commercial. The parents have a mentality that if the fees is more the education provided is better but four ancestors have studied in such schools and where at a good post too.
