Bantwal: Elderly couple stabbed to death by unknown assialants

Bantwal, Aug 17, 2013: An elderly couple were stabbed to death by unidentified persons who barged into the house in the wee hours of August 17, Saturday.

The injured couple namely Shivappa Salian (60) and his wife Pushpavathi (55) have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore. They succumbed to serious injuries in the hospital

The incident occurred at around 2 am. The assailants had not committed any theft in the house and the motive of the attack is not yet known.

The couple who had recently returned from a Gulf nation were owners of a commercial complex in the town and were also providing vehicles on rent. The couple,it is learnt, were also money lenders.

Senior police officials including SP Abhishek Goel, ASP Shivakumar , Circle Inspector Anil S Kulkarni and SI Shekhar visited the scene of the crime. Finger print experts were also pressed into service.
