Kundapur, Nov 18, 2011:The recently extended Bangalore to Karwar train will soon stop at Mangalore too.The train started running to Karwar on Nov 15, but the extension only created disappointment for the people of Mangalore because the train does not give a stop at Mangalore. Furious passengers had even waved black flags when the train passed through the Mangalore railway station.
The railway department has finally bowed down to public demand. Simultaneously, the department is mulling over the idea of modifying the train’s time table because the train reaches Karwar at midnight according to the present time table. It passes the Karnataka coast late at night or early in the morning, making it very inconvenient for people to make the most use of it. This might also mean loss of revenue for the local people.
According to railway sources, the department wants the train to reach Karwar at least at 10:00 p.m.
