Mangalore, Jan 22: The BJP district unit in Mangalore has organized protests march and dharnas in several places, beginning from the BJP office, Bunts Hostel and Jyothi on Jan 22, Saturday.
Leaders and party workers of BJP in Mangalore and Udupi held a protest march today condemning the Governor’s decision to sanction procedution of Chief Minister, Yeddyurappa. The demanded recall of Governor Bhardwaj and accused the opposition Congress and JDS of indulging in ’’backdoor politics’’.
Addressing the protesting BJP workers here, Mangalore MP, Nalin Kumar Katil said the party will fight against the Governor’s decision. In Karnataka, the Congress and the JDS lost the Assembly polls in 2008, Lok Sabha elections in 2009 and zilla and taluk pachayat polls last year, he noted.
"They (Congress and JDS) don’t have people’s mandate. They are indulging in back-door politics", Katil said. Accusing the Governor of hatching a "conspiracy", he asserted that the Yeddyurappa government would complete its five-year term.
Anwar Manippady, the chairman of the state minority commission, said that the BJP government has launched and successfully completed several development projects after coming to power in the state. Stating that the opposition party has realized that it will never get public support, especially after its poor performance in the recently held ZP/TP polls, he said that this has made the opposition to lose confidence in itself and used the Governor to pull down the government.
Nithin Kumar, Shrikar Prabhu, and Monappa Bhandary were some of the BJP leaders who participated in the protest.
